“Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.” Psalm 61:1-3.
Physical healing has both an emotional and physical aspect. Scientists have discovered the remarkable way our emotions can affect our immune system. As a hospital chaplain, I ministered to patients who not only had a physical heart problem, but also had a broken heart emotionally. The same was true for people with cancer, diabetes and other illnesses. Only treating the physical problem stops short of treating the emotional problem. Complete healing requires healing both the emotional and physical problems. Make sure you are seeking God for emotional healing from hurts, habits, and hang-ups that
are causing physical illness and limitations. Seek counseling from a licensed Christian counselor who believes the Bible is the ultimate authority but also believes in the ability of science, under the authority of Holy Scripture to help heal emotional wounds caused by spiritual and emotional abuse. In the spiritual sense, healing is the people of God bearing one another’s burdens.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
PRAY: “Father, I put myself, my past, present, and future in your care and trust. Let me be committed to emotional healthiness which will bring, and even restore physical health. I am thanking you in advance for your healing. Thank You, Jesus! AMEN.”
